Kim Rosen illustration for Smithsonian Magazine

Kim Rosen illustrated this piece for an interesting article on air pollution in the current issue of Smithsonian Magazine.  The opening of the article states that contrary to scientists' belief that the earth was untainted by human-made pollutants up until the Industrial Revolution, humans actually began emitting greenhouse gases at least 2,000 years ago.  Based on the study of gas bubbles recently discovered trapped in Greenland's ice, we now know that methane gas has impacted our atmosphere since the Romans.  Fascinating!

Simeon Elson illustrates portraits for IPC Media

Simeon Elson was recently commissioned by IPC media to create a series of illustrations for Nuts magazine.  The title of the feature was '100 Best Gags of 2012', and it was in the magazine's Christmas Special issue.  Simeon illustrated a total of 19 portraits of some of the most prominent comedians today.  The images were splashed across a series of spreads - check them out:

Martha Rich illustrates tea towel for Australian agency

Martha Rich had the pleasure of working with Brisbane-based visual communication consultancy shop, designfront, to collaborate on their annual client holiday gift. This year, the gift was a limited edition of tea towels featuring original illustrations based on all things Brisbane / Queensland.  Martha had a lot of fun working on this project, and we were super happy with the way it turned out.  In fact, we just received our very own tea towels from designfront, and we think they're too fabulous to use!

Mariya Paskovsky - new fashion illustrations

Mariya Paskovsky just finished up her first new collection of fashion illustrations for the new year!  She calls the collection "after Desigual" because she was inspired by the color and style of the Spanish-based clothing line. In Mariya's own words, "I like Desigual style. It is so bright, so happy, so authentic and has so much stuff going on on each piece that they are creating."

We love these colorful new pieces she has created, and we can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Christophe Lopez-Huici claymation for Amazon Publishing

Christophe Lopez-Huici recently completed this fun claymation piece for Amazon Publishing.  The animation is for the promotion of a new book titled "Elimination Night", which is a roman à clef about the behind the scenes of American Idol.  Since the writer of the book chose to remain anonymous, Amazon decided to use the animation as a mock interview of the writer and a preview of the book.

The client gave Christophe a script and dialogues to work with, and from there he did a storyboard, characters, animation, and editing.  From start to finish, the project took him about two months to complete.

Santiago Uceda for Ted-Ed

Recently Santiago Uceda was asked to create an animation for TED-Ed , which is the education extension of TED and is made up of educational videos that are collaborations between talented educators and animators who are nominated through the TED-Ed platform.  It was a great honor for Santiago to be asked to participate in this project, and he and an educator collaborated to create this video that explains how we breathe.  Santiago did the illustrations and the animation, and here is the final video along with some screen shots.  Nice work, Santiago!
