Bob Dob illustrations for Hispanics Against Drunk Driving

Bob Dob recently illustrated a series of 3 PSA's for the non-profit organization Hispanics Against Drunk Driving (H.A.D.D.).  Bob had the pleasure of working with Concept CafĂ© Advertising , and the concept of the campaign was, "Monsters Do Exist".  Bob's illustration style worked beautifully in translating these dark fairy tales into a serious message...as you can see:

Bob Dob illustrates for Playboy Magazine

Bob Dob recently did this illustration for Playboy magazine, for a piece titled "Meat the Future, The laboratory race to create the next great meal". The article mentions that researchers in Japan are trying to clone "Yasufuku, a steer renowned for siring more than 40,000 wagyu cattle, the breed used for Japan's Kobe beef" - hence all of those cows in the illo!

A Blue Hawaiian by Bob Dob

Artist Bob Dob said that he has been thinking of doing a painting based on the Blue Hawaiian cocktail ever since spending family vacations in Hawaii where it was his dad's drink of choice. Every time he heard someone order that drink, "a smurf-Hawaiian hybrid" would pop into his head.
Lucky for Bob, he had the opportunity to finally illustrate this in the latest cocktail recipe for The Art of the Cocktail.

Here's a peek at the illustration, but make sure to go to the recipe book to view the whole piece.

Bob Dob walks in Lucy's shoes

Bob Dob recently worked on this piece for Illumination Magazine, the official magazine of the MU Office of Research. The magazine chronicles research, scholarship and creative achievement at the University of Missouri - Columbia.  Bob created his interpretation of "Lucy", one of the oldest discovered hominids, for an article that discusses further evidence that Lucy actually stood upright most of the time.  If she'd had the cool kicks that Bob gave her, she probably would have stood up all of the time!

BTW, Happy Bastille Day!!

Bob Dob fights carbon in Paris

Last week while in Paris, I met with Vanessa and Julian from TBWA\MAP. Both worked with Bob Dob last year on the big "Carbon Fighters" campaign, and it was so great to go into the agency and finally meet face to face after all of the e-mail correspondence (I'm in San Francisco, Bob's in LA, and they are in Paris...). Plus, it was an added treat to see Bob's illustrations in action! Not only did they give me a set of the Carbon Fighters stickers they produced, but then they pointed out one of the billboards featuring Bob's illustration - very cool.
